Food Packaging Materials and Supplies

Food manufacturers don’t want their products, whether it’s milk or something else, to get spilled or spoiled. The right packaging for the food does require more specialized products from different industries, and the right products will prevent food waste as well.  Here are some of the right packaging supplies for the food that you have and will also keep the perishable drinks and foods from not getting spoiled before they get to the customer.

Shrink film

This is good for food products to offer protection. Shrink film, for those that don’t know, consists of a plastic film that’ll shrink and fit the items that are there once you apply heat. It’s versatile, and it also protects them from tears, abrasions, even damage during the transit process. It’s also available in a variety of clarities, thickness, shrink ratios, and strengths too.

Food manufacturers will use this to keep oxygen away from food and prevent spoiling it.  They usually use the following:

  • Polyolefin shrink wrap which is considered to be the standard for packaging of food.

  • Anti Fog shrink film, which is used for food packaging, prevents the buildup of moisture.

It’s also naturally FDA approved to reduce any pathogens from getting into contact with food.

Corrugated Boxes

These are good for food and all sorts of packaging, as they do fulfill the tertiary packaging necessities.

It helps to house packages that are smaller during the transit process, which adds a further layer of protection against the interior so that it’s not broken or scuffed.

It also is pretty lightweight and lowers the shipping emissions and costs.

It also is made from recycled pulp of paper, improving the carbon footprint through the use of these shipping boxes.

Palleting

Whatever industry that you plan to work in, pallets will be your best friend.

They’re great for pushing packages from one point to the next in a safe manner.

When you’re sending off these pallets to different locations, you need pallets in order to prevent spoilage and shortages too.

Optimizing this by partnering with wholesale pallet suppliers will help to keep the business to maintain their supply.

It also does the following:

  • You can get a secondary revenue stream that you can sell back, rather than just tossing them

  • You can be sustainable by either recycling this or having it become mulch.

  • Offers data, as you’ll be able to get some buyback revenue

Pallets are great for transporting items, and these days, they’re some of the most eco-friendly means to do this.

Vented Panel Wrapping

This is a necessity for a lot of food manufacturers, as it helps with the freshness.

Rather than traditional forms of stretch film, this vented type is made with some die-cut holes within the film, in order to increase the airflow.

It does the following, such as:

  • Prevention of condensation

  • Cooling products during the shipment

  • Regulating the packaging temperature

  • Minimizing waste on food

Vented film is also available as machine and hand film and used on normal wrapping machines. That means that there isn’t any special equipment necessary.

It’s also approved by the FDA for indirect contact of food.

If you’re going to ship out anything that’s perishable, such as frozen foods, dairy, fresh fruit, and beverages, or even vegetables, vented types of stretch film will be your best friend.

These types of food packaging isn’t just a suggestion, but it’s needed to ensure food product safety. Make sure you utilize it to get the food to other customers in a fresh manner
