Why I Only Shop Online Nowadays

If you have not heard of the recent events that have overtaken our world, then you seriously must be living under a rock. Most people have basically gone back to normal when it comes to dealing with COVID19. Most stores have completely opened back up to normal capacities, and the mask mandate has been lifted in a lot of areas. What does this mean for us? This means that we are going to see a whole other wave of the virus hit us when we are least expecting it. Although, it is true that a lot of people actually are expecting it, though some people still do not believe that COVID19 is real. You would think that an extremely affordable and available vaccine would have a great effect at immunizing our population from getting the virus - and I would agree with you. However, it is hard to administer a vaccine to people who refuse to get it. I seriously think that our country is going to have to go into a completel lockdown again this winter because people simply refuse to get vaccinated. This is super frustrating for me because I really do not want to be sent home from my senior year at college all over again. Anyways, due to all of the things that I have been rambling about in the paragraph above, I have committed to exclusively shopping online.

To a lot of people, this might sound crazy. I have always hated shopping in stores. Seriously; my entire life has been plagued by my extreme distaste for places like supermarkets, department stores, and malls. I absolutely hate having to try to weasel my way through crowds and people who don’t walk fast enough through the aisles. Not to mention, waiting in checkout lines is probably the worst thing that I could spend my time doing. With all that being said, it might seem more reasonable that I have started to exclusively shop for anything I could ever need online.

It makes even more sense when you look at the current state of our country in regards to the COVID19 pandemic. I don’t trust our society to keep itself safe anymore, since people are incapable of doing the bare minimum to keep themselves and others safe. I seriously feel so bad for hospital workers. Imagine having to care for patients with COVID who refuse to get vaccinated and won’t even admit that they are dying due to a virus they didn’t believe was real. It’s pathetic.

With all that being said, I have turned to the internet and the world of online shopping to deal with my anxiety and depression that is coming about because of this pandemic. I have been ordering pretty much anything you could imagine online, even things like groceries and toilet paper. What’s the point of going outside anymore? There literally is nothing that could make me want to go to Walmart to buy anything I want. I pretty much have everything delivered to my door in an assortment of cardboard boxes and poly bags. I have so many poly bags I am probably contributing to at least half of the pollution of plastic bags in the midwest all by myself. Anyways, that’s my rant for the day. Hope you got something out of it!
